Accordion Books - Specific Book Genre for Children and Youth

The bachelor thesis covers a brief history of a book, maps the current publication houses in Czechia and their production. It compares particular accordion books and publications focused on the theme of Home. In summary it covers the genre of accordion book - as a book medium, in an educational art project with children and as a complementary educational material with its parallels. The Didactic part uses the subject of accordion book in educational practice and takes into account the goals and the expected outputs defined in RVP (framework educational plan). The Artistic part of the thesis presents a set of authorial accordion books, following the topic examined in the Didactic part. Edition of literature for young adult in the Czech publishing houses

This diploma thesis deals with the current position of young adult literature it the Czech book market. Young adult literature is primarily intended for teenage readers and captures topics that are close to this age group. The aim of the thesis is to find out, how is this kind of literature published in Czech media system. This text also acquaint closer with the term the young adult literature. For this reason, the first part of the work deals with the definition of young adult literature and the presentation of common genres, as well as the brief history and its influence on adolescents. Through interviews with the representatives from the three selected publishers that publish the young adult titles, we have found out which place this literary sector occupies in the Czech book market. The main achievement we have learned is the fact that although the young adult is a relatively new term for the Czech environment, even in the few years that we have encountered, it has become a relatively well-established concept. Young people choose titles with lighter motives, but books that solve more demanding themes are often searched by readers in the long term for several years after their release. Permeation and implanting of political influence into the culture on the example of Czech publishing houses'activity in 1938-1949

of dissertation Dagmar Magincová The dissertation entitled Permeation and implanting of political influence into the culture on the example of Czech publishing houses'activity in 1938-1949 deals with the context of historically based politicisation of culture. It examines mutual relations between literary works, artefacts and political, social and cultural regulations, ideas and institutions in the sphere of publishing activities in Bohemia 1938-1949. The first part reflects the issue of power instruments used to influence culture; the second part conducts a survey of publishing activities from the aspect of individual subjects' attitudes in the transforming context of the time; the third part analyses particular ways how politics penetrates through culture, and the reflection in public discourse. Methodology of the study is based on the interdisciplinary basis of critical theory, which also implies the crucial issue of power forms transparency.
